Our founding story
Forged from Pain, driving change
Bully Zero was born from heartbreak. The unimaginable pain of a parent losing a child to suicide, caused by bullying.
Allem Halkic was the cherished only son of Ali and Dina. Energetic and happy, he grew up in a loving home. Yet in February 2009, after enduring relentless and hateful cyberbullying, Allem took his life. His death marked a watershed moment in Australia, being the first time suicide caused by bullying was ruled a crime.
Determined to ensure no other family would endure such pain, Ali united with others who shared his vision for change. Together they founded Bully Zero in 2013, a movement driven by compassion and fuelled by Allem’s legacy.
Today, Bully Zero stands as a powerful force for kindness, courage and prevention, ensuring Allem’s story serves as a catalyst for shaping a world free from bullying.
Ali was recently featured in the Herald Sun, you can read more about his story here
